The Center for Compassionate Care Opens
Located in a serene, peaceful neighborhood in Mt. Lebanon, The Center of Compassionate Care is now accepting patients. This twelve-bed hospice inpatient facility has all private rooms and baths. Many of the rooms have direct access to a beautiful courtyard. Family members, friends, and children are welcome. This facility will provide pain and symptom management for patients as well as provide respite for the patients. For more information please call

FHPC Wins Circle of Life Award
The American Hospital Association named Woodwell, a joint program of Family Hospice and Palliative Care and Presbyterian SeniorCare, a 2007 Circle of Life Award® winner. The Circle of Life Award celebrates programs across the nation that have made great strides in palliative and end-of-life care. The awards are supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and are sponsored by the AHA, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the American Medical Association, and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

First Fall Golf Classic Benefit
The Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, PA will be the site of Family Hospice and Palliative Care’s First Fall Golf Classic Benefit. The event will take place on Monday, September 22, 2008 with registration starting at 10:30 AM. Golfers will enjoy 18 holes of golf as well as lunch, a cocktail reception, and an awards ceremony. Friends of Family Hospice and Palliative Care Card Party
In October, Friends of Family Hospice and Palliative Care will host their annual Card Party at the South Hills Country Club. There will be card games, lunch, and a silent auction. It is a fun afternoon. All proceeds benefit patient and family services. For more information please call 412-572-8809.

 

Toast to Life Celebration
Family Hospice and Palliative Care will host its annual formal dinner/dance, A Toast to Life Celebration, on Saturday, November 8, 2008. It will be held at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. A silent, live and Chinese auction will be held. For more information or reservations please call 412-572-8813.

 

New Volunteer Training Class
A new volunteer training class will be starting in September. The class will be two six-hour sessions on consecutive Saturdays. Volunteers are an important part of the hospice team. Please consider helping us to care for our neighbors, friends, and loved ones.
