Since 1980, Family Hospice and Palliative Care has been a leading not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organization in Western Pennsylvania. Its heritage of compassionate care leads to the innovation that is setting the standards for the future of hospice and palliative care.

| Serving the Community Since 1980 |
- One of the first hospice programs in Pennsylvania, Family
Hospice and Palliative Care was created by Mercy
Hospital, St. Clair Hospital, South Hills Health System
and South Hills Interfaith Ministries.
- Largest and only independent, not-for-profit, community-based
hospice in Western Pennsylvania.
- Caring for patients and families in eleven counties in
Western Pennsylvania.
- Providing hospice care in homes, skilled nursing and assisted
living facilities, hospitals, and inpatient facilities –
wherever home may be.
- Established two hospice inpatient facilities – Family
Hospice Manor (2005) and The Center for Compassionate Care
(2007).
- First hospice in the area to offer innovative programming
such as massage, pet, music, art therapy and Your Gift of
Legacy.
- Corporate participants include Jefferson Regional Medical
Center, St. Clair Hospital, Presbyterian SeniorCare, UPMC
Health System and Grove City Medical Center.
- The Institute to Enhance Palliative Care, a unique collaboration
between the University of Pittsburgh and Family
Hospice and Palliative Care, is a community of scholars
and health professionals from diverse fields dedicated to
research to improve care for the seriously ill.
- Family Hospice and Palliative Care and Presbyterian SeniorCare
were awarded the American Hospital Association’s 2007
Circle of Life Award® for their joint efforts in creating
the Woodwell Program.
- Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations JCAHO) since 2001.
