New Volunteer Opportunity:
Pet Peace of Mind
Family Hospice is pleased to begin a new program, Pet Peace of Mind(R), which recognizes and actively supports the unique bond between hospice patients and their pets.
As the first hospice in Pennsylvania to participate in this program, Family Hospice, through the efforts of trained volunteers, will allow patients to complete their end-of-life journey without worrying about their pet's current or future needs. This initiative provides volunteer pet care services for patients who are unable to care for their pets while on hospice. Pet Peace of Mind(R) is a national program developed and funded by the Banfield Charitable Trust.
Family Hospice is recruiting animal-friendly volunteers who can assist patients with pet food, financial assistance with routine veterinary care, transporting the pet to veterinary appointments, pet walking, and more.
To learn more about volunteer opportunities with Pet Peace of Mind(R), please contact:
Nick Petti, Family Hospice Manager of Volunteer Services, at 412-572-8806, or npetti@familyhospice.com.

Moffett Street in Mt. Lebanon.
Caregiver Sandy Kaplan (top left) says this about the Pet Peace of Mind volunteers: "The volunteer team took just enough pressure off of me so that our dog, Star, and I had the opportunity to fully bond and work as a team. This in turn helps me to care for my husband at home."
